*Colon Cancer Screening – Colon cancer screening has made a tremendous difference in the fight against colon cancer. This year, more than 112,300 people in the United States will be diagnosed with colon cancer.  An alarming 52,000 are expected to die from the disease.  Starting at age 50, screening colonoscopy allows the gastroenterologist to inspect the colon for polyps and possible colon cancer. Through this early detection, colon polyps can be removed and colon cancer can actually be prevented.   Colorectal cancer and precancerous polyps don’t always cause symptoms.
